Karen Poon

I graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Art and a minor in Sustainable Design. Soon after I began working in graphic design. After awhile I began to miss the strategic thinking involved in Sustainable Design from college. This prompted me to begin my journey into UX design.

I have always been passionate about design, conservation, and improving standards of living so I studied Art and Sustainable Design in college. While I ultimately decided not to go into art or architecture I found that I really loved the strategic side of architecture. I loved the challenge and complexity of layering multiple physical systems with human behaviors to find a whole integrated solution to a design problem. Besides letting me get back into the highly strategic side of design it also combined some of my other interests like visual design, psychology, interactivity, and industrial design.

In the future I look forward to working on more projects that create a positive impact in the world in areas such as healthcare or sustainability but am also excited about expanding my horizons. Professionally I look forward to continuing my growth in UX and visual design.

My hobbies include illustration, reading, and vintage Pu’er tea. I have traveled widely and love a good book. I am also very passionate about sustainability.
