Uploading Files for Artificial Intelligence

The software platform for which this upload notification system was created allows different types of users to work together and develop AI algorithms to identify certain health conditions in medical imaging. Users can upload their own images and data to be annotated for ground truth or used in experiments to develop and refine AI algorithms.

While users could upload their own files there was no way for them to know when their files had finished uploading to the system. In this case study I will review the design process for developing the notifications flow for uploads and a notification storage system for the software platform.

My role in the project involved:

  • Creating high definition wire frames.

  • Designing strategic workflows.

  • Integrating requirements and feedback from project managers, users, UX research, engineers, and visual design stakeholders.
